First stitches of 2011

I think that I will be putting my first stitches of 2011 into Twilight. I figure there are about 400-500 stitches left to finish out page 2 and that's what I will be doing. I really can't wait to see this one finished. I really like how the finished piece looks , but darn there is so much dark blue in it. My baby girl "Baby Red" has already claimed it as her's and has a spot all ready for it above the head of her bed LOL ! She ask's me all the time why I'm not working on it :) So to appease the 7 year old I will attempt to get page 2 finished then only 7 more to go ! I will be back by the end of the week with photo's, if I am lucky maybe sooner !

Crazy Quilt RR - My Block

This little pretty is the block that I made for the CQ RR that I am in. Well it's really 4 wee little blocks that measure 4x5 each sewn into a kind of mini CQ . This little one hold lots of memories for me already. I started this 2 days before Nana went into the Hospital and did the work that you see on it while sitting with her. I still need to stitch her name and some dates on it. I want this to have a garden theme to it as Nana loved gardens! When it comes back home I will finish it with a black satin backing and binding then it will hang on my wall next to some photo's of Nana. Below you can see some detail photo's of my stitching.

Another cute Ornament Freebie

So while hunting for ornaments to stitch for the 2011 challenge of an ornament a month I stumbled across this little cutie. I really have been wanting to practice my bullion knots and this would be perfect for that ! Anyways if you want a copy of this chart click ------> Here.

Terra Fairy !!!

I am so excited I opened up my e-mail this morning to find an e-mail that contained the floss list for Terra Fairy. She is from the SAL that I am taking part in over at the HEAD BB on Yuka. On the 1st of January I will receive the first part of the pattern. I can't wait to put the first few stitches into her :) To boot if I post 6 WIP pic in 6 month out of the 12 that the SAL runs I will receive the other charts from the SAL. One of them is an Amy Brown Fairy so you know darn well I will be posting those WIP pic's . It was a hard choice between the Amy Brown Fairy or this one the deciding vote which came from DH who just loves green! Anyways I guess I have rambled enough for now. I will be back soon with pics of what I am working on.

An ornament and some progress

I sat down and stitched this little cutie up last night. It is a freebie from HERE. It was a first for me on a couple of levels, first time using over-dyed threads and first time for using even-weave. I think the count is 28 but I'm not sure.

I also made a bit of progress on my SK. Only 2 more blocks before row 3 is finished . However it is going off the hoop today for a much needed bath. Larry touched it with grubby hands and now it has a black smudge on the back so i will be trying to get that out today.

Gone and done it !

I don't know if you have heard about the cool new challenge for 2011 or not. Anyways the challenge is to pick 15 projects and finish them for 2011. I think that this is an awesome idea. I have at least 14 UFO's/sWIP in my craft drawers that I would love to see done for 2011. I will work on a list over the next week or so :)

6%

Well I am now at just over 700 stitches into this. I am really enjoying working on it though it seems to take forever to finish 1 block with all the color changes. I am setting this as my focus piece for this week. My eldest DD is really liking how it is coming along and is excited it be able to see the tip of the flower. I hope to be able to get this second row done by tonight, we'll see though. Next week I am switching my focus piece over to the EMS flower's. I am excited that I will be able to start the February flower.
This SK is really hard to take a picture of. I think it is because the background kind of blends into the off white Aida. I see it on my screen and it doesn't even look 1/2 as good as it does in person. The subtle shading that the background has does not come out well in the pictures. I think that when Income Tax comes in I will be buying several more of the Molly Harrison charts . There are 3 or 4 that I would love to stitch up, however they are all large so I may not be able to stitch them all in this lifetime but DD #1 is starting to show some interest in stitching so she may end up with them LOL!

SK Flower Fairy's Rest

Yes crappy photo I know, my camera is having issues right now :( Anyway's I am 5 hrs into the SK called Flower Fairy's Rest by HAED. It looks so much better in person. This will be for my eldest DD who is 14, she wanted it as a picture to hang in her room instead of a bookmark so I am stitching it on 14 ct off white aida instead of the 25ct that I was going to stitch it on. I hope to have it done and framed by next Christmas, we'll see though.

Just Thinking Out Loud :)

So I have been thinking about what I would like my goals to be for 2011. I have alot that I would like to start and yet alot that I would like to make a huge dent in , if not finish. But heck new patterns come out all the time and as all stitchers know it's hard to stay on the wagon ;)

1. Finish the EMS Flowers
2. At least 4 pages on Lissandea
3. Start a couple of HAED patterns
4. At least 4 pages on Twilight
5. Do at least 8 new ornies for the tree
6. Start Waiting for Ships
7. Do a few flat folds
8. try a finish technique that is new to me
9. Start and finish Pumpkin Hollow
10. Start and do 3 pages on Vin Desiel
11. Start and do 3 pages on the David Draimen chart
12. Start stitching some of the adorable freebies that I have saved to my computer so I can make room for more :)
13. Finish that Edible Flower's UFO that has been a UFO for way to long !!

I hope that 2011 is a good year for me and I can get at least 1/2 of my goals done

Lissandrea

Well I finished the EMS January flower but alas no pic to share as the camera just doesn't want to play with the computer right now. I think I am going to pick up my much neglected Lissandrea for a few days and see if I can get that hole in page 1 closed up. I really , really want to see her hanging on my wall but dang that darn confetti just gets to me. I will try later to upload a photo of the Carnation. It came out so pretty, I may go on and finish the February flower after I put in some time on Lissandrea.

A New Start

This is the January block of the month from EMS. I saw the whole set done up on another blog and just couldn't resist starting it. This will go into my new rotation that i will be starting for 2011. I also am about to start a new SAL in January, it is from the HAED board, they have several patterns to choose from, all that I have to do is decided which one I want to do !!

More Mail Goodies!!!

I received the sweetest package from Cathy yesterday. You will have to forgive me for not posting sooner, my grandmother passed away on the 18th and it's been really hard on our family.
This pincushion is so sweet and the design is stitched over one on what looks like 28ct even weave. My Cathy you are brave !!

Cathy also enclosed all of these wonderful goodies !! I really needed a nice pair of snips too. Thank you so much Cathy , you are the sweetest !!

I love mail !!

I received these in today's mail !! They are just the cutest little things. They were made for me by Cathy who is my partner in both the pincushion and ornament exchanges. She designed the pattern for the pincushion herself, I just wish I was 1/2 that talented!

Somehow Cathy found out that I collect reindeer ornaments !! I love this one, I have never seen this pattern before. The trim on this is so pretty, it's a white and gold cording. Thank you so much Cathy I will always cherish these.

A Start

Well I started on the 15 sided biscornu this morning. Woke up at 1am for some reason, decided that since i couldn't go back to sleep I would stitch.

Here is a close up of one of the wee blocks. It is stitched on 14 Ivory Aida with DMC 930. I think when I finish this one it will go to live with my friend Jac in England :)So far it has been a fun stitch, though my hands are killing me this morning so it is taking a good while to stitch each block :(

Next Project

So I think that I will be stitching up this freebie next. It's so adorable!! I may put together a couple as gifts for some stitching friends of mine, it all depends on how well the first one goes together. This pattern can be found here:

Another Finish

This was such a fun little stitch ! It is for my other swap partner Cathy - yes both of my partners are named Cathy :) This is my first attempt at a Biscornu and I have to say that I just love making them. I'm sure you will see plenty more of them on this blog in the future!!

Finished Pincushion

This came out way to cute. I just love it and hope that Cathy enjoys it!! It was a bit of a pain to put together but I think that was because I left to much of a seam allowance and did not clip my corners. I think I am going to try to do a simple biscornu next then after that I found a pattern for a 15 sided blackwork bisconu that I want to have a shot at.

What I am stitching

I am hosting a pincushion swap over on the 123 message board. I stitched this up this weekend , it is a freebie and will be turned into a mattress style pincushion for my swap partner Cathy S. I hope to have it all sewed together by tonight so that I can start on her ornament as I also have Cathy as a partner in the ornament exchange.
Below you can see all of the pieces needed. I will be stitching some information on the backing piece. This was such a fun little stitch that I have decided that I need one for myself :) As soon as I finish with my obligations I will be working on one for me!!

A Finish For Me

Wow, finally a finish :) It's a ornie that will be mailed off to Wendy in Australia to give to one of the children at her school. It is really not as big as it looks in the photo, only about 3 1/2 x 4 1/2. It was a quick stitch and so much fun to do. The pattern was a freebie that i found on the internet but can't remember the web address for it.

It's Comming

With the weather getting colder I was thinking of Spring today. I figured that now would be a wonderful time for a giveaway. Here is a little sneak peak :) I will put the information for the giveaway up in a day or two so keep watch and have a wonderful day.

Silly Doggies :)

My ever faithful companion , Echo is never far from my side. When Larry first brought her home I wasn't to impresses to be adding another dog to the family. We already don't fit in this itty bitty tuna can of a trailer, but now I don't know what I would do without her !!

She even helps Thunder get the kids up in the morning and is quickly learning the command - get em' up. Thunder turned a year old on the 5th of this month. 123 pounds and still growing !!!

Another of my baby girl :)

I'm Back :) Twilight Update

Well I am finally back, 70 $ poorer but none the less it is good to have my computer back. I just realized that I never showed what the finished Twilight will look like.

This is as far as I have gotten since my last post. Not very far but life has been really busy. I hope to have page 2 finished by the middle of next week.

Page 1 Finished

Well I have page 1 of Twilight finished, almost 3 skeins of 939 in this page alone !! I need to go to Fabric Garden Monday and pick up 4 more skeins of the 939. I hope to be able to get over to my friends house tonight to use his camera so I can snap a photo. Off to go do some non 939 stitching on page 2. Only 8 more pages to go till this is finished :)

Twilight Update

A dear friend of mine let me use his camera to snap this photo. This is 1/2 of page 1 of Twilight, doesn't look like much of the moment but when I hit pg 2 I will get to stitch with a bit of colour, can't wait.

Down but not out

Well for the moment I am down, the colour coil in my laptop blew. Will take awhile before I have the $$ to get it fixed. On the other hand I am able to get a lot more stitching time in. I am almost done with pg. 1 of Twilight. I had to restart it as I didn't like the coverage that 2 stands was giving so I switched it out for 3 strands. Much bettter now. After I finish pg 1 I will finish off pg 1 of Lissandrea.
I hope I will be able to find a way to post photo's soon.

Friday, September 24, 2010

Well I am starting Twilight, page 1 is mostly 939 with a bit of 310 thrown in. I have my fist 1,000 stitches mapped out. After this 1,000 I will switch over to Lissandrea for 1,000. Just chilling out watching the Supernatural marathon on TBS. I just love this show :)

I Think

That I am going to need a rotation!! I just received 2 new charts , the first is of Vin Diesel and the second is of Bella and Edward from Twilight( really gonna need a rotation for this one as it calls for 10 skeins of 939). ( I got these charts from Celtic Rose) and I also have another coming of David Draiman - the lead singer of Disturbed. They are all screaming at me. I also need to get the quilt finished too, well before Spring anyways.

Now I Remember

O.k. so now I remember why I set this project aside, I really hate hand sewing through denim!! I broke 3 needles doing the buttonhole stitching on these leaves. I think that I had originally planned to do an applique block or two per row but now I'm thinking not. However I may add 2 or 3 more to the whole quilt, yeah I know sucker for abuse ;) Well of to go do a couple more rows below are some close ups if anyone is interested in the buttonhole stitching.
